Jimmy Butler trade

The Golden State Warriors have officially landed six-time All-Star Jimmy Butler in a high-profile trade with the Miami Heat. The move, finalized late Wednesday night, concludes Butler’s eventful tenure in Miami and marks the beginning of a new chapter in his career with one of the NBA’s most successful franchises.

Inside the Trade: How the Deal Unfolded

The Warriors aggressively pursued Butler after their attempt to reunite with Kevin Durant fell through. The Phoenix Suns forward, who won two championships with Golden State in 2017 and 2018, reportedly declined a return, prompting the Warriors to pivot to Butler.

To finalize the deal, Golden State sent forwards Andrew Wiggins and Kyle Anderson along with a top-10-protected 2025 first-round pick to Miami. Additionally, the Warriors traded Dennis Schroder to the Utah Jazz, who in turn shipped P.J. Tucker back to the Heat. Meanwhile, Lindy Waters III and Josh Richardson were sent to the Detroit Pistons as part of the multi-team transaction.
